Host A Christmas Wrapping Party

Combine productivity with social interaction.

My girlfriend recently invited me over for a Christmas present wrapping party at her house. It was a casual, minimal planning event that she was gracious enough to host. Now this isn't a new concept, she actually got the idea out of a magazine but I'd never heard of one before no less attended one. Much like any idea you decide to utilize, you can make it your own by adding your own personal touches to it.

Lisa's party was small and intimate which is probably most effective for a party of this type due to the large space needed. For the four of us, we each had our own table to work at complete with homemade paper holders at the end of each table Lisa made herself with a spindle and two small blocks. Provided for us by our host was tape, scissors, a small box with bow and tags as well as gift boxes and tissue. Of course no party would be complete without drinks and snacks. We started our party at 7:00pm so to keep us going through the night, we had sweets and warm drinks.

As party attendees, we were asked to bring a least one roll of paper to share with the group and your presents. How simple and easy yet with such a productive outcome! To make the party more personal, I suggested coming in our PJs or comfy clothes. Now the four friends in attendance at our party have been friends for many, many years, going all the way back to grade school so we felt comfortable getting together in a casual format. You can host a more formal party by asking friends to dress in their best Holiday attire!

Here is what you'll need to host your own succesful party:

* Ideally a spacious, well lit room.

* Tables for individuals or two people to work on.

* General wrapping tools: scissors, tape, bows, tags, ribbons, gift boxes, tissue paper, trash bags to take presents home in. Don't be afraid to ask your guests to bring these things as well if you don't have everything or need a larger quantity than you can supply.

* Basic party refreshments depending on the time of day you host your party such as coffee, cookies, water and appetizers.

* Good cheer and a warm, inviting home.

My girlfriends and I had a blast getting our presents wrapped while visiting with one another catching up on our busy lives. During the holidays, we often aren't able to find the time to get together with the ones we love most and I found this party a great way to see one another and get a lot done at the same time!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!
